Why Should I enter my Identification Number into learnPro?
Identification numbers are used to link your achievements in learnPro to the HR record that your board or trust holds for you. If the Identification number entered is inaccurate, the wrong Identification number or is fictitious, then it is likely that the particular learner will not receive full recognition for their endeavors.

Which Number should I use?
The Identification Number you should use depends on your local policy. We have prepared a summary of policies that we know are in place. If you have further information that is not listed here, please send this to us through the learnPro helpdesk contact form.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran - Learners should use their "LearnPro" (Empower) Number (e.g. LA123456)

NHS Borders - Learners should use their "learnPro" (Empower) Number

NHS Dumfries & Galloway - Learners in NHS Dumfries and Galloway need to use their unique HR.net identification number. You can find this number yourself in your HR.net. If you have any problems please contact your manager or email dumf-ubh.Hrnet@nhs.net

NHS Forth Valley - Learners should use their SWISS (Scottish Workforce Information Strategic System) number. (e.g. 123456)

NHS Lanarkshire - Learners should use their NHS Lanarkshire Payroll Number

NHS Lothian -  Your number should start with the letters C, E, ET or ES, followed by 6, 7, or 8 numbers. If you do not know your number, please ask your line manager to get it for you from Empower.  An instruction guide for managers can be found on the Intranet homepage.

NHS Lothian GPs and GP Practice staff  –your ID number should be the Practice Reference Number (S and 5 numbers) followed by 2 numbers which will be allocated to you by your practice manager when registering.

If you don’t fall under any of the NHS Lothian categories, please contact the NHS Lothian Helpdesk and they will issue you with and emergency learnPro ID number.

NHS Shetland - You should enter your initials followed by today's date (DDMMYY), e.g. AB010411. Please contact Staff Development on (01595 74) 3083 or 3219 for any help or assistance

Western Isles Health Board - Learners should use their SWISS (Scottish Workforce Information Strategic System) number.

What should I do if I don't know my Identification number?
If your board doesn't have a local policy, you should enter your national insurance number.
